FOSI Response to President Biden’s Positions on Big Tech

Washington, DC - January 12, 2023 - Stephen Balkam, Founder and CEO of the Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI), issued the following statement in response to President Joe Biden’s op-ed in the Wall Street Journal on January 11, 2023:

“We appreciate the President shining a spotlight on the need for federal data privacy protections, with a special emphasis on the importance of even greater protections for children and teens. FOSI wholeheartedly supports collaboration among industry to tackle evolving challenges, including the push for greater transparency around algorithms and the innovation of best practices and policies in the field of online safety.

“We look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts in 2023 with industry leaders, academics, the nonprofit sector, the Administration and the new Congress to make the online world a better and safer place for kids and their families.”
