New York - Today marks a watershed moment in the field of online child protection with the launch of the new Global Partnership and Fund to End Violence Against Children. The fund, a joint effort of UNICEF and the WePROTECT Global Alliance Board, will implement programs with the aim of continuing to build capacity to fight child sexual exploitation online.
This follows the WePROTECT Global Alliance Board’s debut of its new strategy, released on July 11th, which outlines the specific ways that it will fight abuse content and protect children against digital crime.
“We are delighted to participate in this groundbreaking coalition of organizations to combat the worst online offenses, the abuse of children,” said FOSI’s CEO Stephen Balkam, “The dedication of the UK Government and WePROTECT’s implementing partners have allowed FOSI to contribute the Global Resource and Information Directory as a resource to online safety practitioners worldwide.”
“GRID is the most thorough asset mapping the online safety landscape,” said Patricia Cartes, Head of Global Trust and Safety Outreach at Twitter. “Its structure and level of detail make it one of the most useful resources available to industry, governments, lawyers, academics, educators and other online safety practitioners. At Twitter we have found it an essential tool as we have continued to develop our global safety partnerships.”
FOSI is thrilled to provide its ongoing support to the WePROTECT cause and looks forward to further collaboration with all to provide the tools, resources and knowledge that will end crimes against children worldwide.
