Overview
FOSI and ictQATAR partnered to host a two-day conference in Doha, Qatar looking at key online safety issues affecting the Middle East region and discussing broader global issues.
This is a key time to discuss young people’s role in the digital age. Our conference examined the many ways young people connect with the Internet through youth focused panels and active youth participation in addition to bringing together key policymakers, educators, and industry representatives.
Conference highlights included discussions about the expansion of mobile phone and social media usage, a look at the role of ICT in schools and the importance of cyber ethics, and also included the presentation of Qatar’s National Cybersafety Strategy.
Our conference occurred alongside the QITCOM Conference and Exhibition organized by ictQATAR on March 5th – 7th. With these two events taking place at the National Convention Centre, participants had a unique opportunity to explore a broad range of ICT issues and their implications for online safety all in one space.
