ROBLOX CIVILITY INITIATIVE
We launched the Roblox Civility initiative to provide our community—whether users, parents and caregivers, or educators—with the tools and knowledge to better navigate the online world, including Roblox, safely and confidently.
Partnering with expert global organizations such as Internet Matters, the National Association of Media Literacy Education (NAMLE), and The Digital Wellness Lab (from Boston Children’s Hospital & Harvard Medical School), Roblox has helped create resources on a wide range of topics including online safety, media literacy, wellbeing, and digital parenting. We launched a dedicated microsite to help users, parents, and educators easily find these resources. Working together, we can collectively stay better informed on potential issues that could be affecting our community.
Feedback we receive from our expert partners helps us shape our roadmap for safety features and policy. It also allows us to expand our networks so our safety tools can reach a broader audience. Our Safety Advisory Board provides impartial, critical feedback on products before they are launched. Fortunately, FOSI was one of our first board members and is still actively contributing. NEW FEATURES TO KEEP USERS SAFE
At Roblox we never stop innovating, particularly when it comes to safety and civility. We have rolled out several new features already this year such as increasing the use of AI to scale safety and moderation, as well as using it to help keep communication safe between users on the platform.
We will continue to focus on building tools to provide support when users need it most, as well as working with some exciting new partners who are experts in areas of online safety and wellbeing. We can’t wait to share all these updates with you soon!
