Alexandra N. Veitch leads YouTube Government Affairs and Public Policy across the Americas. In this role, she advises the company on public policy issues facing the platform and liaises with government officials throughout the Western Hemisphere to develop and implement policy agendas on technology issues. She comes to Google after a long career in public service, including as senior staff to President Barack Obama and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, and experience leading government affairs for other large, multinational companies.
As Special Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs, she managed President Obama's relationships with Congress; as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security, she led engagement with the House of Representatives on behalf of the government's third-largest agency. She served nearly eight years as senior staff to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and began her career in Washington working for Senator Barbara Mikulski of Maryland.
In 2023, Alexandra was named one of Washington D.C.’s 500 most influential people by Washingtonian Magazine. Alexandra's private sector experience also includes leading North American Government Affairs for Tesla, a company committed to helping transition the world to sustainable energy, and at CSRA, a Fortune 600 government technology contractor that was acquired by General Dynamics. Alexandra earned a Bachelor of Arts in Diplomacy and Foreign Affairs from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio and a Master of Arts in International Studies from the University of Sydney, Australia. She is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio.
