Arda Gerkens has served as the President of the Online Terrorist Content and Child Abuse Material Authority (ATKM) since September 2023. In this capacity she has recently joined the council of the Global Online Safety Regulators Network. As a former politician, she operates at the critical intersection of the digital landscape and societal well-being. Previously, she led the Dutch Hotline and Helpline Offlimits. Gerkens has an extensive political background, having spent eight years in Parliament and ten years as a Senator and Vice-President.
Throughout her career at Offlimits and beyond, Gerkens has been dedicated to fostering a safe online environment that upholds human rights, with a particular focus on combating online child abuse.
In addition to her role at ATKM, she holds several key positions, including Councilmember of GOSRN, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of the NVPI, Chairman of Taskforce GO (addressing transgressive behavior), and Chairwoman of the monitoring committee of CIIIC (enhancing XR in the creative sector).
Outside of her professional commitments, Gerkens is a mother of two, enjoys photography, and is an avid runner.
