Cristy Irvin Phillips is Special Counsel in the Division of Economic Justice at the Office of the New York State Attorney General, focusing on technology regulation. She is a member of the rulemaking team for the SAFE for Kids Act and Child Data Protection Act, New York laws that protect children and teens from addictive algorithms and exploitative data collection. Previously, Cristy was General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Check Technologies, a software company, and Deputy General Counsel at 1/0 Capital, a venture capital fund and start-up incubator. Cristy also spent 9 years in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, where she served as Deputy Chief of the Civil Frauds Unit. She holds a J.D. from New York University School of Law and a B.A. with Highest Honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
