Julia Fossi is Director of International, Strategy and Futures at the eSafety Commissioner: Australia’s independent regulator for online safety and the world’s first government agency solely dedicated to tackling online abuse. Julia leads eSafety’s Safety by Design initiative, provides advise on emerging online safety issues and challenges, carries out tech trends analysis and drives eSafety’s international engagements and capacity building work.
Prior to joining eSafety, Julia worked at the NSPCC, a child protection charity in the UK, where she was Associate Head of Child Online Safety. She has also worked in a variety of sensitive and high-profile policy and research roles within the UK Government, on issues such as human trafficking, homicide and prison reform. Julia holds a PhD from the University of Nottingham, and a BSc in Psychology.
