Madeleine de Cock Buning is the Vice President of Global Affairs EMEA for Netflix, holds a chair in Media- and Communications Law at the University of Utrecht and is professor of Digital Politics, Economy and Societies at the Florence School of Transnational Governance of the European University Institute. She chairs the Advisory Board at the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO).
Madeleine has an extensive background in media regulation and policy. She previously chaired the European Commission’s High-Level Expert Group (HLEG) on disinformation and was President of the Board of Commissioners at the Dutch Media Authority. As chair of the European Regulators Group for Audiovisual Media Services (ERGA) she was instrumental in advancing the protection of minors against harmful content. Her efforts significantly influenced the EU Audiovisual Media Services Directive 2018/1808, ensuring more robust safeguards for young audiences across Europe.
