This report is part of FOSI’s ongoing Online Safety Survey, conducted bi-annually in the United States and Australia. Building on FOSI’s December 2025 report examining perceptions of social media and school smartphone bans, this brief focuses specifically on Australia and explores how children and parents view the country’s social media ban following its implementation. The report examines evolving attitudes toward the policy, its perceived impact on young people, and how families are navigating a rapidly changing digital landscape. Additional findings from the Online Safety Survey will be released in a forthcoming 2026 report.

Together, these findings provide valuable insights for policymakers, families, industry leaders, and families seeking to better understand and support children’s online experiences.
