Erin McNeill is founder and president of Media Literacy Now, a national grassroots organization seeking state-by-state policy change to ensure that all children learn comprehensive media literacy skills.
The effort began with a bill in Massachusetts that would prioritize media literacy in education. Since then the movement has expanded to two more states where legislation is currently moving ”“ New York and New Jersey ”“ and partnerships and chapters announced in four additional states as the initiative moves south and west across the country.
Erin worked as a journalist in San Francisco and in Washington DC – where she covered economic and environmental policy – and writes frequently about the influences of media messages on children and our society.
